COMEDY – ROMANCE – FARCE
Two English Shakespearean actors, Jack and Leo, find themselves so down on their luck that they are performing “Scenes from Shakespeare” on the Moose Lodge circuit in the Amish country of Pennsylvania. When they hear that an old lady in York, PA is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long lost English nephews, they resolve to pass themselves off as her beloved relatives and get the cash. The trouble is, when they get to York, they find out that the relatives aren’t nephews, but nieces! Romantic entanglements abound, especially when Leo falls head-over-petticoat in love with the old lady’s vivacious niece, Meg, who’s engaged to the local minister. Meg knows that there’s a wide world out there, but it’s not until she meets “Maxine and Stephanie” that she finally gets a taste of it.
Nick Blackstone (Leo) – "One day I walked into a building looking for the bathroom, and somehow ended up on stage. Thank you to my mother, Christy Blackstone, LSUA's theatre director, Bob Harper, and Starbucks coffee, without all of which I wouldn't be here." Nick has appeared in several Empty Space Players productions, including "Boeing Boeing" and "God of Carnage", as well as Spectral Sisters Productions' 10-minute festival. He appeared in City Park Players' "Second Samuel" as June Clive in 2014 to rave reviews. Nick is a criminal justice graduate from LSUA.
Jared Guillory (Doc) - Jared is a theater teacher at Pine Prairie High School. He graduated from LSUA in 2016 with a degree in theater and currently resides in Alexandria. Jared has participated in community theater with Empty Space Players and Spectral Sisters in the past, and is thrilled to make his City Park Players debut. His favorite roles include Mortimer (Arsenic and Old Lace), Richard (Lion in Winter), and Robert (Boeing, Boeing). Jared is excited to be working with old friends and new actors. He would like to thank his parents and his family for always supporting him. He would also like to thank his friends and his mentors, Lisa Mayeux and Bob Harper. "And the play begins!"
Elizabeth Hilgerson (Meg) - Elizabeth, who attended NSU and participated in Chamber Choir, is thrilled to be participating in her second City Park Players production. She has taken part in theatre throughout the community with Empty Space Players and Lagniappe Theatre Company as well. Her favorite roles include Gloria (Boeing, Boeing), Sister James (Doubt), and, most recently, Elizabeth (Laundry and Bourbon). She is an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she performed in "A Calvary Christmas" this past winter. She is thankful for the support of her family and friends and her beloved cat, Maggie. Elizabeth is excited to share the stage with some of her closest friends and is especially grateful to her dear friend, Jared, for giving her the opportunity to be a part of this fantastic cast and for always pushing her to be the best she can be.
Garrett Lollar (Butch) - Garrett is 23 years old from Jena, LA. He is currently a LSUE student at LSUA. His hobbies include playing guitar, sports, making music, the outdoors, and recently took up poetry.
Levi Martinez (Duncan) – Levi is an on-again, off-again Louisiana College student who enjoys disc golf, theatre (obviously), people watching (especially when they watch back), and is an avid sports fan, while working at Tamp & Grind. Levi has performed extensively with local theatre groups, including tlc (Theatre Louisiana College). His favorite past roles include Tevye in "Fiddler on the Roof", Edgar Beane in "Titanic: The Musical", and Sir Toby in "Twelfth Night". This is Levi's first production with City Park Players.
Chris McDowell (Jack) - Chris is a Louisiana College graduate with degrees in theater and psychology. Chris has been a involved in community theater since 2008, participating in productions with LC and Laginappe Theatre Company. His most recent roles include Smee (Peter Pan) and Kerry Max Cook (The Exonerated). Chris is excited to make his City Park Players debut and would like to thank our esteemed director, Jared, for this opportunity. And finally...ROLLING!
Tori Revoir (Audrey) - Tori grew up in Alexandria and has always enjoyed art, especially fine arts/illustration (https://society6.com/sisterhipster) since she was able to communicate non-verbally through the medium. She gradually became involved in theater and was tech-savvy enough to work lights for CPP's "Seeing Stars in Dixie" in 2016. Tori's one goal for acting is to improve speaking and memorization skills. She has always admired animation, especially from foreign countries such as Japan, so she was inspired by them to join in on the performing arts. Tori says, "Audrey is a real treat to perform since she is quite the opposite of my personality as an introvert, yet still giving my own interpretation of the character; she's a hoot(ers)...you'll see what I mean when you come see the show."
Becky Stewart (Florence) - Becky is a veteran actor, her first play being “The Front Page” with CPP. She also played M’Lynn in “Steel Magnolias” twice - once at the Fox Theatre in Marksville and again at the old Bringhurst Park Theatre (Becky really misses the old theatre!) - and won Favorite Actress for her role in “The Foreigner.” She has also appeared in SSP’s “The Brassiere Bunch” and CPP’s “The Dining Room”, “The Red Velvet Cake War”, and its sequel “Rex’s Exes.” Becky most recently played the role of stage manager for CPP’s “Lone Star”. Whether on stage, or behind the scenes, reading a play, or in the audience, she loves all things theatre.
